Andrew Fisher Tomlin
"Planting with purpose: crafting a career in plants"
Andrew’s work spans design, education and industry. Over a 35-year career, he has become especially well-known for his planting design expertise and his experience on a wide range of landscape projects worldwide. He is also the Director of Environmental Design at the London College of Garden Design.
Andrew currently works with collaborative design teams on a diverse range of projects, including as a consultant with the Commonwealth War Graves Commission, and he teaches at the School of Botanical Horticulture at RBG Kew. He is a Chartered Horticulturist and a Fellow of both the Chartered Institute of Horticulture and the Society of Garden and Landscape Designers and was awarded the RHS Elizabeth Medal of Honour in 2026.
James Alexander-Sinclair
"Three Gardens that Changed my Life"
James Alexander-Sinclair has been designing and making gardens since 1984. He is a fellow of the Society of Garden and Landscape Designers, an award-winning writer and served ten years as a member of the Council of the Royal Horticultural Society. He is an RHS Vice-President, the Ambassador for Garden Design and was awarded the Veitch Memorial Medal for outstanding contribution to horticulture in 2022.
He has had a regular column in Gardeners World magazine for the past twenty years and has written features for most garden publications. He won Garden Media Guild Digital Writer of the Year 2025, and Journalist of the Year 2019
He also writes a monthly column for The Garden Collective as part of a group of well-respected garden writers and co-presents The James and Joe Garden Show podcast with Joe Swift.
